Aims
This sustainability case study provides an account of UCEM’s relocation to new premises between early 2015 and late 2016. It showcases the journey we took when we acquired and then transformed an inefficient 1980s building in central Reading into our sustainable new home, Horizons, which was awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating in August 2016 and a Green Apple Gold Award in 2017.
Time commitment
The total estimated time for reviewing this case study is 1 hour.
As a fully online, self managed case study delegates are able to stop and restart the course as they progress. Working through the material at a time and place that suits them.
Objectives
This case study has been designed to inform, inspire, and share good sustainability practice.
It explores both the rationale and opportunities that exist for embedding sustainability into the built environment, and analyses the impact that UCEM’s ‘green’ office has had thus far in environmental, social, and economic contexts.
