This CPD seminar is part of a series that use Hong Kong case studies to provide relevance to and support development of technical competencies. The seminar has been designed to provide a deeper understanding of essential topics participants need to learn to acquire the competences expected of a practising Surveyor , Development Manager or Project Manager.
About this Seminar
Urban areas in Hong Kong are almost fully developed and hence new supply mainly hinges on redevelopment of existing buildings. Following the enactment of Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) Ordinance in late 1990’s, joint sales of properties of strata owners to developers for redevelopment were the key source of new supply in urban areas. Being the pioneer of joint sale, Mr Chan was involved in numerous cases of joint sale and application for sale order under the Ordinance. He will share his valuable experience in these new frontier with you.
The presentation will cover the following key areas:

- Keys to a successful joint sale
- Introduction to application for sale order under the Ordinance
- Recent development of case law

The seminar is particularly suitable for those who are studying for, or going to sit, the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) held by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). These sessions will also be useful for Probationer Members in the General Practice Division or the Planning and Development Division of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) who wish to enhance their knowledge / skills for their APC .
