Practical Measurement Workshop for QS practitioners

This measurement workshop series is made up of five in person CPD workshops that will focus on the general principles of the Hong Kong Standard Method of Measure (HKSMM) and includes the principles and practical application in relation to substructure measurement. Providing relevance to, and supports the development of, core professional competencies. No pre-learning is required; but some knowledge of drafting tenders and contracts will be an advantage.

All workshops will be held in person and delivered in Cantonese with slides in English. Numbers will be limited to enable participants to fully engage in the workshops.

All sessions for these CPD workshops will be held at : UCEM Hong Kong Office at Unit 1602, Tower 2 of Admiralty Centre, No. 18 Harcourt Road, Admiralty, Hong Kong. Guest speaker

Sr Patrick Kwok  BSc (Hons) MSc PgDip FRICS FHKIS MHKIE FHKICM FCIOB F.PFM 

Patrick has been engaged in the Quantity Surveying industry for over 40 years. During that time he has worked for many reputable corporations and organisations including the MTR (Mass Transit Railway Corporation ) Hong Kong. He obtained his MSc in Construction Project Management, Hong Kong University, the BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, University of Reading, UK.

Patrick is Fellow Member of the RICS, the HKIS, the HKICM, the Hong Kong Institute of Facilities Management, the Chartered Institute of Building and a Corporate Member of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers.

Throughout his working life, Patrick has been involved in the teaching of young professionals who have a view to become Chartered Surveyors. He has been a  part-time Lecturer for HK College of TEchnology, Vocational Technical Council, U of Central Lancashire UK, Baptist U, Heriot Watt U UK, Edith Cowan U Australia, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and HKU SPACE. Focusing on the supervision of postgraduate dissertation for students and those undertaking final year project. He currently works for the Construction Industry Council (CIC) as Lecturer in QS programmes and as a Mentor for UCEM. Patrick has also served as an assessor for the RICS, the CIOB, the HKIS and the HKIE.

Attendance at these workshops provides 12.5 hours of formal CPD learning. You will be issued with your certificate of attendance after the event.

Cancellation policy

UCEM Online Academy recognises that a change in circumstances can sometimes be unavoidable and that delegates who register for a classroom based course may need to withdraw or change their original registration.

If you are unable to attend the classroom based course you are booked on, you may request to substitute another person to attend in your place provided you notify us in writing at academy@ucem.ac.uk at least five working days before the event.

Refunds are calculated as follows upon receipt of the written request to academy@ucem.ac.uk.

  • More than 28 days before the course start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 20% of the fees due.
  • 28-14 days before the course start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 50% of the fees due.
  • Less than 14 days before the start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 100% of the fees due.

In the unlikely event of UCEM Online Academy withdrawing a course, all course fees paid will be refunded, however UCEM Online Academy will not be liable for any other costs or losses incurred.
