The objective of this face-to-face professional competence workshop is to enhance participants’ comprehension of concepts and principles of development strategy, particularly in the current economic conditions characterised by property market downturn and significantly higher interest rates compared to that in the previous decade.  It will cover essential topics related to development issues that development surveyors should be familiar with, as demonstrated by recent news articles on Hong Kong developers.

  • Cheung Kong’s Blue Coast project – achieves 20% price reduction compared to similar properties in the vicinity
  • PRC developer slashes prices by 40% and sets the price at $25,000/square foot for its luxury development in Ap Lei Chau
  • URA Shing Tak Street project development rights acquired by Sino Group for over $1.9 billion from the Urban Renewal Authority

Speaker Details

Mr. William Chan  MRICS, MHKIS, Member of AAPM, RPS, MBA, DipProjMan(RICS), PgD, Prof Dip, BSc

Mr. Chan has over 25 years of real estate experience in development, investment, acquisition, land administration and valuation.  He has worked for local and PRC property developers, the Hong Kong Government and consultancy firms.  When working in property developers, Mr Chan was mainly responsible for international property market, and handling both property development sites and investment properties.  He is particularly familiar with Hong Kong and Macao markets, and has extensive experience in valuation of various types of properties under different market situations.  He also has over 15 years of experience in delivering professional training at various educational and professional institutions in Hong Kong and Macao.

Mr. Chan, a UCEM Alumni and Associate Fellow, is a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and Associação da Avaliação da Propriedade de Macau.  He is also a Registered Professional Surveyor (General Practice Division) in Hong Kong.  In addition, he has been serving as the Chairman / Assessor in the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) of RICS and HKIS.

Cancellation policy

UCEM Online Academy recognises that a change in circumstances can sometimes be unavoidable and that delegates who register for a scheduled event may need to withdraw or change their original registration.

If you are unable to attend this scheduled CPD course you are booked on, you may request to substitute another person to attend in your place provided you notify us in writing at academy@ucem.ac.uk at least five working days before the event.

Refunds are calculated as follows upon receipt of the written request to academy@ucem.ac.uk

·         More than 28 days before the course start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 20% of the fees due.

·         28-14 days before the course start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 50% of the fees due.

·         Less than 14 days before the start date: UCEM Online Academy will retain 100% of the fees due.

In the unlikely event of UCEM Online Academy withdrawing a course, all course fees paid will be refunded, however UCEM Online Academy will not be liable for any other costs or losses incurred.
